Featured Floral Designers for April 2000

We're pleased to present the newest in our series of featured floral designers. These designers showcase Tayama floral products in themed arrangements of their own creation.

Our featured designers for April, Yoneko Kawabata and Jay Sudo of Flower View Gardens, Inc., uses Tayama's tropical flowers in lovely corsages and arrangements.

Flower View Gardens, Inc. is a Los Feliz tradition. It opened its first store in 1917, selling flowers from fields on Los Feliz Boulevard, closing only when the entire family was interred during the war.

On March 2, 1946, Flower View Gardens, Inc. re-opened, and has been a full service florist to the greater Los Angeles area for the last 58 years. Today the shop remains family-owned and operated. While Arthur Ito Sr. has taken to golfing a little more and working a little less, Alice, his wife, is at the shop almost every day of the week. She still has a loyal following of customers that remember when Jim, the current President of the corporation and head designer, was just a "little kid."

The designers featured on this page are longtime employees Yoneko Kawabata and Jay Sudo. Mrs. Kawabata created the corsages, and Jay designed the arrangement.
