Featured Floral Designer for October 2000

We're pleased to present another in our series of featured floral designers. These designers showcase Tayama floral products in themed arrangements of their own creation.

October 2000 showcases the exquisite ancient Japanese art of ikebana. This style of floral arrangement, practiced in Japan for over seven centuries, focuses on the display of cut stems, leaves and flowers in vases and other containers. A designer fluid in the art of ikebana can take from three to five years to learn these highly technical but artistic skills. Such skills are usually taught in classes exclusively devoted to this art.

This month's featured designer is Bertha "Chiyo" Yoshida of Chiyo's Floral Designs in Torrance, California. Chiyo has been featured many times at local and regional FTD shows, demonstrating her extensive ikebana-trained floral work. In the arrangements shown below, Chiyo uses Tayama's October 2000 Product Specials.
