Mark's Remarks - Puttin' on the Ritz (Continued)

Mark S. Massie, AIFDHere are more design ideas using Tayama potted plants and Design Master products!

Mossy container

Here I used a terra cotta pot and sprayed it with Mossy - what a great color tool! The textures look like true moss and can jazz up any container.

ColorTEX combination

For this design I used a combination of ColorTEX sprays: Halloween, Autumn Leaves and Pumpkin create this artist's palette.

Dressed-up Japhet

I wanted to dress up this Japhet in a unique way. I used a set foam wreath with a solid backing, then placed the japhet in the center. I made a hedgerow of foxtail and a collar of mini orchids and presto! The result is a whole new look, and very cost-effective - a perfect Mother's Day gift!

Unique sympathy arrangement

Every shop has at least one container that you can't even give away. What do you do to perk it up? Here, again, I thought about a Sympathy arrangement. Mind you, I'm not saying use your ugly containers only for funeral work. But if the container fits the design, use it. A good designer, using Design Master ColorTEX, can make those unforgiving containers forgivable, as I did in this last design. I first used a potted phalaenopsis plant and fresh cut phal stems and tulip anthuriums. I covered the pot in Ti leaves and secured the ends of the leaf with floral adhesive. Next, I braided a palm to give the piece a contemporary feel and voila - a beautiful arrangement to send to any funeral.

Thanks once again for joining me in this little corner of cyberspace. I hope you have enjoyed this column as much as I enjoyed putting it together. My special thanks to Gretchen Sell of Design Master for sharing their wonderful design tools. In an upcoming column, we'll delve deeper into the world of color using the other fantastic tools Design Master offers!

Until next time, Keep Blooming!
Mark
