Tamie's Tips - September 2001

Hand-Tied Wedding Bouquet Revisited

Tamie Kimura

Back in March 2001 a Tayama customer in Oregon asked for tips regarding making a bridal bouquet using all gardenia blooms. This request resulted in my tip A Hand-Tied Gardenia Wedding Bouquet.

A few weeks ago, our customer Annie Simonds of "A Creative Garden" in Hood River, Oregon was kind enough to share her fabulous bouquet done for a recent wedding.

The bride requested all gardenias (more than 30 blooms!) with no other foliage or flower. The results that Annie achieved are shown below.

Seeing how these tips can be reshaped into even more beautiful creations is one of the reasons why this monthly tips column is so gratifying for both the student and the teacher.

Annie Simonds Hand-Tied Gardenia Bouquet

Gardenia Bridal Bouquet

Notice the intricate work and how each flower has been carefully placed, wired and tied to make a large amount of flowers still seem delicate and small in overall size. This is a well-balanced design that is eye-catching and uniquely fragrant. Combined with a lovely bride, this bouquet makes quite a lasting impression (though a painstakingly time-consuming effort as well).

Annie has created other lovely bridal bouquets. Here she is pictured (on the right) with another happy bride showing off Annie's delicate floral artistry.

Outstanding work, Annie!
